Literacy Training

AIS, in recognition of the importance and value of literacy to all individuals, has partnered with the Bedford-Sackville Literacy Network (BSLN) to provide literacy training for its employees from September to June of each year.

Financial support for the program is provided by BSLN through the Department of Education. AIS contributes both staff and funding to this initiative.

The increased reading skills gained through participation in the AIS Literacy Program are linked to increased self-esteem, socialization and teamwork skills as well as to many other benefits.

There are two levels of literacy training available to learners. These "off-site" programs occur once weekly and include instruction in and practice of both reading and writing.

The reception held at the end of each instructional year involves demonstrations of what the attendees have learned, the awarding of completion certificates, and recognition of literacy tutors and an overall celebration of accomplishment.
